11 Dance 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Samantha French.

Students will:

- Develop communication, confidence, originality, writing, creative collaboration, resilience, analytical, critical and research skills. 

- Perform a range of dance sequences from a range of dance genres and styles. For example, Samoan Sasa, Jazz, South African Gumboot Dance, Contemporary Dance

- Utilise dance elements and devices to compose and choreography sequences. For example, choreograph a dance in small groups based on Māori mythology. 

- Be introduced to the history and context of a chosen dance genre. 

-  View and respond to dance performances

- Learn and utilise the dance elements

  


Prerequisites

Students who have taken Year 10 dance need to have achieved most of the assessments in the course, including an ‘Achieved' grade or higher in the 10DN1 end of year exam.
