Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Haana Bovaird.

Students will:
  • Be introduced to concepts in understanding health education. This includes studying Hauora, influences, consequences and strategies for relationships and sexuality, strategies for managing change, and making health-enhancing decisions in drug-related situations.
  • Develop positive attitudes and values towards their own and others’ well-being.
  • Develop critical thinking skills, resilience, and a sense of personal and social responsibility.

UNIT: Relationships and Sexuality - Demonstrate understanding of influences, consequences and strategies in relationships and sexuality.

Assessment Type: Exam  (MCEA CREDITS: 5)

UNIT: Managing Change - Demonstrate understanding of the ways in which well-being can change and strategies to manage change.

Assessment Type: Assignment (MCEA CREDITS: 5)

UNIT: Drug Education - Demonstrate understanding of issues to make health-enhancing decisions in drug-related situations.

Assessment Type: Exam  (MCEA CREDITS: 5)



Prerequisites

From 10 Health - must have submitted all Health assessments and passed 3 of the 4 assessments. 

OR HoD approval.
