Prerequisites

12ENE

At least 19 credits in Level 1 English of which 12 credits are from Level 1 externally assessed English standards. 

You must have passed all internal and external standards from Level 1 English with Merit or Excellence.

At least 14 credits in Level 1 English. Must have a minimum grade of Achieved in creative and formal writing.

The Study of English Literature is compulsory at Level Two.  As such, your English option will be determined by your results for English in Level One.


12ENE students will:

  • Study film, a Shakespearian play and either a novel or short texts
  • Develop a love of literature through reading and viewing a range of texts from a variety of authors and cultures
  • Write in a range of styles, developing their essay writing skills and producing a portfolio of writing
  • Have the opportunity to achieve 22 credits in Level Two English


12EN1 students will:

  • Study and analyse film, and either an extended text or short texts, as preparation for two literature essays in the exam
  • Write in a range of styles, developing their essay writing skills and producing a portfolio of writing
  • Learn to locate, select and integrate information from a range of sources for a research project, or develop personal reading responses across a range of text types chosen from a specified list*.
  • Have the opportunity to achieve 18 credits in Level Two English


12EN2 students will:

  • Study and analyse film, and either an extended text or short texts, as preparation for two literature essays in the exam

The assessment matrix below shows the standards on offer across all classes. Unfamiliar Texts is specific to 12ENE as well as some classes from 12EN2.  Close viewing and speeches is specific to 12EN2.  The writing folio and 2.1 is specific to 12ENE and 12EN1.  2.8 is specific to 12EN2 but one of two options available for 12EN1 which will decided by the teacher.  2.2 is common to all classes.
