11 Performance Physical Ed. 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Andrew Scaife.

Students will attend 11PF1 4 hours per week. The lessons will consist of both practical and classroom based learning where they will be introduced to concepts to help understand;

  • How movement is integral to hauora. -
  • How participation in movement enriches our lives.
  • How we develop diverse capabilities through movement.
  • There are diverse ways of understanding movement contexts and the moving body.

These concepts will be taught through the following units of work -

  • Apply movement strategies in an applied setting. The applied setting will be Ki O Rahi. 
  • Biophysical impacts on performance. This involves investigating human anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology in relation to Disc golf.  
  • Socio-cultural impacts on participation unique to NZ Aotearoa. This involves students exploring a range of physical activities and discussing the various impacts of society on their participation levels and choices. 
  • Applying strategies to demonstrate kotahitanga. Through a variety of class selected contexts students will have the opportunity to demonstrate interpersonal skills contributing to kotahitanga (unity).


 

Prerequisites

Merit grades in; 

  • Personal/social responsibility 
  • Interpersonal skills in action 

Alongside a minimum of achieved grades in; 

  • Application of movement skills 
  • Human body knowledge 

All the above are completed in 10PE1.
