Course Description

Prerequisites

At least 10 credits in Level 1 Te Ao Haka MCEA (11HA1), including one external standard.

Previous experience performing in a kapa haka competitively, at a regional level or higher, is preferred. 

However, proven resilience and passion for the subject, and highly disciplined work ethics, are traits that are likely to be successful in this course. 

It is also expected that students who enrol into this course will aim to represent MAGS in the kapa haka at Polyfest.

Te Ao Haka is a culturally responsive art form providing opportunities for all ākonga to engage in Māori culture, language and traditional practice. 

In this course, students will explore their own creativity, based on their grounding in Te Ao Haka. They will innovate and experiment, exploring their own role and connections within the Māori performing arts.

This course leads to Level 3 Te Ao Haka which is a University Entrance (UE) Approved course.
