Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Sarnia Slabbert

Students will:

  • Prepare for NCEA assessment at Level 2
  • Study mechanics, atomic and nuclear physics
  • Carrying out a practical investigation with a non-linear mathematical relationship requiring the use of expert experimental skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding of physics relevant to a selected context

Open to Year 12 and 13 students only

** The 13PY2 course does not meet the Physics entry requirements of the BE (Hons) Degree at the University of Auckland.

Prerequisites

From 11SD1/11SB1: Achieved or above in the Mechanics Externals AS90940 and AS90937 AND if in 11MA1 - at least Achieved in 91027 (Algebra MCAT External).

From 11SI1: Gained Merit or above in the Mechanics External AS90940 and at least Achieved in one other Level 1 Science External standard AND if in 11MA1 - at least Achieved in 91027 (Algebra MCAT External)
