Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Sarnia Slabbert.
Students will:
•Prepare for NCEA assessment at Level 2
•Study waves and light, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and nuclear physics.
It is strongly advised that you take a Mathematics course if you are selecting Physics, but it is not compulsory and prerequisite into a Mathematics course is not a prerequisite for Physics. Please note that if you are intending to apply for Engineering, both Calculus and Physics are prerequisites for entry.
Prerequisites
From 11SD1/11SB1:
- At least a Merit in AS90940 AND at least an Achieved in AS90937
- or At least a Merit in AS90937 AND at least an Achieved in AS90940
From 11SI1:
Passed all three externals, including AS90940 at Merit or higher.
AND From 11MA1: Achieved in MCAT exam and at least 60% in the Algebra Skills Test
OR HoD approval.
