Course Description

Prerequisites
Students must meet the prerequisite grade via year 10 PE and be approved by the HOD of PE and TiC of the 11PFR course.
And gain merit grades in:
- Personal/social responsibility.
- Interpersonal skills in action.
Alongside a minimum of achieved grades in:
- Application of movement skills.
- Human body knowledge.
All the above are completed in 10PE1.
Students will attend 11PFR 4 hours per week. The lessons will consist of both practical and classroom based learning where they will be introduced to concepts to help understand:
- How movement is integral to well-being.
- How participation in movement enriches our lives.
- How we develop diverse capabilities through movement.
- There are diverse ways of understanding movement contexts and the moving body.
Key learning in this course entails:
- Learning and applying tactical strategies in sport.
- Understanding biophysical impacts on performance - This involves learning about human anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology.
- Understanding influences on participation in physical activity and impact on well-being.
- Learning and applying strategies to enhance teamwork in a variety of physical activity contexts developing interpersonal skills.
This course is run alongside the 11 Performance course, however where possible a rugby context will be used. Students should be aware this is an academic course and involves classroom and practical work.
