12PY2 Course DescriptionTeacher in Charge: Sarnia Slabbert.
PrerequisitesFrom 11SD1/11SB1: Achieved or above in the Mechanics Externals AS90940 and AS90937 AND if in 11MA1 - at least Achieved in 91027 (Algebra MCAT External).
From 11SI1: Gained Merit or above in the Mechanics External AS90940 and at least Achieved in Acids and Bases AS90944 Level 1 Science External standard AND if in 11MA1 - at least Achieved in 91027 (Algebra MCAT External)
OR HoD approval
Students will:
- Prepare for NCEA assessment at Level 2
- Study mechanics, electromagnetism, and atomic and nuclear physics
- Demonstrate understanding of physics relevant to a selected context
Open to Year 12 and 13 students only
** The 13PY2 course does not meet the Physics entry requirements of the BE (Hons) Degree at the University of Auckland.
*** if students do the 12PY2 course they will be eligible for the 13PY1 course if they pass both externals at merit or higher level (or students can do the 13PY2 course the following year).
